Join us in calling for a Web that respects our freedom by being compatible with free software and stand up against nonfree JavaScript. The Free Software Directory is a collaborative catalog of computer programs and apps that are fully free. The GNU operating system is a continuously evolving, complete operating system made entirely of free software. LibrePlanet is our global network of free software activism, including events like our annual conference , and online collaboration spaces.
The Licensing and Compliance Lab is the preeminent resource for public education on licensing best practices and enforcing the GPL.
The "Respects Your Freedom" program certifies retailers who sell hardware in a manner that respects the rights of their users. Now is the time to help each other move forward to full software freedom. Without free as in freedom software, we cannot and will not have a free society. Your membership will help us pave a way to UserFreedom. Read more. Skip to content , sitemap or skip to search. To use free software is to make a political and ethical choice asserting the right to learn, and share what we learn with others.
The project operates through a network of trust between the individuals, where greater authority is given to contributors who consistently produce high quality work and demonstrate long term commitment.
Contributions are made under the OpenFOAM Contributor Agreement to facilitate enforcement of the free, open source licence , signed either by the individual, or by the organisation that employs them.
Everyone who reports an issue, where the behaviour of OpenFOAM does not meet reasonable expectations, is making a useful contribution. OpenFOAM includes hundreds of robust CFD applications built from the devkit, which can be extended and customised, quickly and conveniently. The applications are used to create CFD simulations by industry, academic, and research and government institutes, across all fields of engineering and science.
Maintenance plans are available to businesses to support the cost of ongoing maintenance of OpenFOAM, giving priority to issues that affect them most. It ensures that OpenFOAM will always be free and open source only and maintains OpenFOAM beyond the control of any large organisation who might put commercial interest ahead of the interests of the users. The Directory is actively maintained by the Free Software Foundation and includes links to program home pages where available, as well as entries for all GNU packages.
Another list of all GNU packages is below. Free software documentation links are listed separately. Finally, we have a short list of free software replacements for proprietary software running on various proprietary systems. We have also published a list of recommended educational software. The FSF maintains a list of high-priority free software projects ; please help with these projects if you can.
