I do not have the original cd so this is why I went to the website. Then after the cd was burned I put it into the laptop and restarted. At the start just when the dell logo appeared I pressed f12 and then chose to boot through the cd. The I just started it again but the repair didnt work. I dont wat to remove the program because I do not have the original cd so I dont think I would get it back on my repair cd. Check and sure that the followings is OK: 1.
If lost one of above 2, MediaDirect was not installed an can not work. Im not sure how to do this. How do I check if I have these partitions.
LifeIsABeach , May 19, It might be helpful if you listed your operating system and the version of MD you're trying to fix, the computer model wouldn't hurt either. I uninstalled it from my computer but when I put the disc in it says that Dell Media is already installed. LifeIsABeach , May 28, Starten Sie den Computer neu. Installation von Microsoft Windows 8. Im Fenster Wo soll Windows installiert werden? Das Windows-Setup erstellt automatisch eine neue Partition, formatiert sie und beginnt dann mit der Installation von Windows.

If you have not deleted any of the partitions except the one where XP was installed on your hard drive, you can usually get MediaDirect to work again by using the Dell MediaDirect Repair Utility. If you have deleted partitions, then the only way to get MediaDirect to function properly again is to create a partition of a specific size I don't know the number off the top of my head , which usually means you're going to have to reinstall everything again unless you have software that can create partitions.
If the latter is your situation, reply back and I'll try to dig up Dell's MediaDirect reinstallation instructions. Thanks for the reply Mennox. Actually I did not delete any partition but I did some resizing and merging of partitions using Acronis Disk Director to recover the partitions created by the old Media Direct installation.
So using Acronis I recovered the partitions created by Media Direct and merge it to partition D, then I resize partition D so I can have an unallocated partition of MB as shown in the installation manual of Media Direct I allocated 2.
Then after installing all the drivers, I installed Media Direct and it proceeded smoothly. DLL is corrupted and needs to be re-installed. I will try your suggestion about repairing it and I will inform you if it works. If not, I hope you can dig more information regarding Dell Media re-installation problems and solutions. Many thanks for your help Mennox!
I saw this as well. The before-mentioned fix, by downloading the software from Dell which you need to put on a CD and boot to it to make it work, see the driver details for installation instructions does NOT put software into Windows. Again, this is what happens when you re-load Windows from scratch, because Dell didn't provide any software to load in Windows itself, only the solo-boot stuff.
I still get the same message that my hal. Any more suggestions how I can solve this problem? Hope to hear from you and everyone as well who may have the solution to this problem..
