Cael sanderson 2012 olympic trials

So while his resume may not be as polished, in my mind, David Taylor could very well be the next Cael Sanderson. Leave a comment posted in Collegiate. If you are a wrestling fan, you have no doubt seen the clip of Ellis Coleman leaping over his opponent in the Junior World Greco Championship semi-finals, to finish him in a throw. The move, now known as the Flying Squirrel, went viral instantly, which is no surprise. Everyone loves when a wrestler is creative and skilled enough to create his own move, which not only looks cool, but is succesful.

However, before the Flying Squirrel, the coolest move out there was definitely the Superduck. No one is sure who invented it, however Jeremy Ensrud from Oregon was probably the first to use it often and with a lot of success on the collegiate level.

Unlike the Flying Squirrel, the Superduck is not a throw; rather, it looks like a shot, only instead of comitting all the way, you feint your opponent by switching directions mid shot and ducking under his outstretched arms. Both moves are cool, and difficult to master. Both moves are named after animals, so the question has to be asked: If a flying squirrel and a super duck were to meet in real life, who would win?

My money is on the Squirrel. It would simply be too fast for the duck to land a hit. Who do you got? Post your opinion in the comments below!! Why wrestle? Why give so much and get so little?

Why spend a whole season starving yourself, working your tail off, just to go out and roll with other guys in tights? Also as a wrestler, you probably have tried to answer these questions.

No other sport comes close to the amount of time and dedication it takes to be a wrestler. So why DO we put ourselves through this? Why shed all the blood sweat and tears? As I said before, its something I cannot put into words. So hopefully these pictures do it justice.

The first time I heard of the sport was when I was five, and my dad took me to a local youth tournament. The gym floor covered wall to wall with wrestling mats. Inspirational music playing while the kids warmed up, jogging around the mats. Parents, more nervous than their kids, filling the stands ready to watch their kids go to war. And then the first matches started. You could see the nerves in the eyes of the kids as they began to warm up.

I was captivated by the incredible amount of passion within the room. Kids scrambling desperately for a takedown as the clock ticks down.

Small sections of the stands erupting into cheers after a loud slap on the mat, signifying a pin. I saw more headgear get thrown than I did wrestlers. But there was one thing I noticed which I carry with me even today: every single kid gave his all.

No matter how bad he was losing, no matter how grim the situation looked, they wrestled their hardest to the final whistle. Email Address:. Error: Please make sure the Twitter account is public. I don't think God cares if I win one gold medal or two; I think He gave us this ability and did I do everything I could with what I was given?

That desire to compete, to fight for something, to rise to a challenge, I'm not sure it goes away. My window is short now. I want to take this as far as I can. Sanderson actually made a mini-comeback in March when he fulfilled a promise to his team.

Of course Sanderson blitzed the field in the pound class, but that was just a nod to his wrestlers at Penn State. Wasn't it? In fact Sanderson was taking his own temperature, seeing if he might be able to parlay his knowledge and residual fitness into a serious return.

I don't want to be like that. It's the competitor in me. I can't even picture or imagine not winning. Though Sanderson qualified at the pound class, he decided to cut weight to in order to avoid wrestling against Jake Varner, a two-time NCAA champ from Iowa State and close friend. Still, moving down in weight is no easy feat. Ahead of the All-Star rosters announcement, picking the player on each team most deserving of a selection for the tournament.

Brooklyn could play the star point guard at home games even if he's unvaccinated, though the move would cost the Nets in fines.
